Cree LED Introduces New XLamp® XP-G3 Far Red LEDs, Delivering Breakthrough Efficiency and Reliability for Horticulture Lighting

Cree LED announces the launch of its new XLamp® XP-G3 Far Red LEDs, setting a new performance standard for horticulture lighting systems that rely on supplemental lighting in the 720-740 nm wavelength range to enhance plant growth, yield and quality.

The XP-G3 Far Red LED delivers a remarkable 21% higher efficiency than the previous-generation XP-E2 Far Red LED, enabling lighting manufacturers to achieve greater system performance or reduce energy consumption. Built on Cree LED’s proven S Line technology, the new XP-G3 Far Red LED offers the highest levels of sulfur and corrosion resistance, ensuring exceptional reliability through intensive power cycling and dimming conditions common in horticulture environments.

Engineered for versatility, the XP-G3 Far Red LED is available in three optical profiles to support a wide range of luminaire designs:

S Line Standard Dome – a no-beam-shaping option for broad, uniform illumination
Horizon70 – a batwing-style beam profile designed to improve light uniformity across crops
Horizon90 – the industry’s widest beam shaping profile, enabling reduced mounting heights without sacrificing coverage

With its standard 3.45 mm XP footprint, the XP-G3 Far Red LED provides a seamless drop-in upgrade path for manufacturers currently using XP-E2 Far Red LEDs, allowing for easy performance enhancements without redesigning existing platforms.
