TTB from LpR 75: The value of lighting design and light planning has always been underestimated, despite it becoming more important with the rise of Solid-State-Lighting. This is a fact that the public doesn't realize, even though the industry does. Digitalization, compared with the special properties of LED lighting and the aim of the lighting industry to establish their IoT hubs, is a new challenge. This is even more apparent when trying to integrate light sources directly in building structures. Responsibilities and tasks are no longer clearly separated between the different disciplines of architect, lighting designer, IT planner and electro planner. Guenther Sejkora and Arno Grabher-Meyer talked with Wilfried Kramb, owner and CEO of a·g Licht, about these tendencies and topic.

Repro-Light Consortium Announce Intelligent Workspace Lighting Concept
The pioneering design team at Bartenbach unveils a brand-new intelligent lighting concept set to revolutionize workspace personalization. It is set to deliver a truly user-centric, workspace lighting blueprint for lighting designers to transform workspaces for healthier living. The story began with Bartenbach's involvement in the Repro-light project consortium, funded through the European Commission's Horizon 2020 work program. The scope of the project, "To successfully initiate transformation in the European LED lighting industry, by creating the 'Luminaire of the Future'." Part of this remit was to develop a new customizable lighting system.

Providing Better Light Should Still be the Focus of the SSL Industry
Commentary from LpR 75: As President of Bardsley Consulting, Norman advises industry, government and academia on solid-state lighting, flat panel displays and energy efficiency, with special emphasis on diffuse lighting and organic electronics. He is a member of the Technical Advisory Team for the Solid-State Lighting Program of the US Department of Energy. Dr. Bardsley also acts as Chief Analyst for the International Solid-State Lighting Alliance (ISA) and is a member of the UNEP Expert Task Force on LED Lighting and Controls.

Gigahertz-Optik's BTS256-EF now Offers Enhanced Flicker Frequency Range up to 40 kHz
The BTS256-EF by Gigahertz-Optik GmbH, a well-known measuring device manufacturer, has already been up to that challenge for many years. It offers a wide selection of measuring quantities relevant in general lighting and hence acts as universal measuring device in its field. Now, the device has been updated to record and analyze even higher flicker frequencies than before: It supports signal sampling with up to 40 kHz.

Effective UV-C LED Solutions for Pathogen Containment, Medical and Biotechnical Applications at euroLighting

Lumitronix Provides Solutions for Use of UV-C LED Under Real Conditions
As an official distributor of Nichia in Europe, the Hechingen-based LED company Lumitronix offers access to the most powerful UVC LED currently on the market. The NCSU334A emits a wavelength of 280 nm in the ultraviolet range and especially in the UV-C band and enables immediate sterilization and cleaning of air, liquids and surfaces. Bacteria, germs and viruses can be reliably killed in this way. This means that the UV LED from the world's largest LED manufacturer can also act as a possible weapon against the novel corona virus.
