New Mint LEDs Deliver Horticulture-Optimized Drop-In Upgrade

Cree LED’s new J Series® JB3030C 3V E Class Photophyll™ Select Mint LEDs with 1.6 GBR give horticulture lighting manufacturers a drop-in-compatible option for designs based on the Samsung LM301B/H footprint.

The new Mint color combines spectral output optimized for horticulture with Cree LED’s highest-efficacy 3030 platform, helping manufacturers improve luminaire efficacy and reduce system costs.

Photophyll Select LEDs are designed to replace the conventional white LEDs used in two-channel white plus red horticulture luminaires. Compared with standard lighting LEDs, their spectrum increases green content while reducing red content, allowing more of the luminaire’s red output to come from efficient, dedicated red LEDs.

To simplify spectrum development, Photophyll Select LEDs are binned entirely using horticulture-specific metrics. Spectral output is characterized according to photosynthetic photon flux within the blue range from 400 to 500 nm, green range from 500 to 600 nm and red range from 600 to 700 nm. The two binning metrics are Red PPF%, which indicates the percentage of red photosynthetic photon flux, and Green/Blue Ratio, or GBR. This approach gives luminaire designers clearer spectral information without requiring conversions from traditional lighting metrics.
