Lumileds and BluGlass Cooperate for Developing Certain RPCVD Enhanced LEDs Australian technology innovator BluGlass Limited has today announced that it has entered into an exclusive collaboration agreement with Lumileds. Lumileds develops, manufactures and distributes LEDs and automotive lighting products. The two companies will work together to explore potential use of low temperature RPCVD for specific LED applications defined by the agreement. This agreement follows on from the initial collaboration of BluGlass and Lumileds. Read more »

Photoptics 2016 Report PHOTOPTICS 2016 – The 4th International Conference on Photonics, Optics and Laser Technology took place in Rome - Italy, from February 27 to 29. PHOTOPTICS 2016 was held covering a broad range of related fields on Optics, Photonics and Lasers, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. After a strict selection process, the PHOTOPTICS program included full papers (13% of submissions) and short papers (28% of submissions). Additionally 19% of submissions papers were accepted for poster presentation. European Photonics Venture Forum The 2nd edition of the European Photonics Venture Forum (EPVF) will take place on 2 & 3 June 2016 in Eindhoven. It will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, corporates and policy makers in an intense and high-energy programme of pitching, ideas sharing, networking and direction setting. The first edition was initiated by FP7 funded project LightJumps, under coordination of James Cogan. This year the event will be an initiative of FP7 project Actphast and will be organized with the support of high-ranking members of regional, national and European photonics organisations. Osram Names Lamps Business Branch LEDVANCE Osram, one of the world's leading lighting manufacturers, continues to make progress with the carve-out of its general lighting lamps business. After the supervisory board of Osram Licht AG approved the carve-out of the unit in June 2015, the name of the new company has now also been decided. “We have opted for a combination of the terms ‘LED’ and ‘advance’ and will call the newly established company LEDVANCE,” said Olaf Berlien, Chief Executive Officer of Osram Licht AG. “The name reflects the trend toward LED in the lighting market as well as the opportunities arising from this development – opportunities LEDVANCE will actively exploit.” Read more »
